Meta description: Welcome to your one-stop guide for book recommendations for every age - from 1 to 100 years! Whether you’re a parent searching for the perfect picture book, a teenager looking for inspiring stories, an adult wanting powerful reads, or a senior seeking comforting classics, this blog brings you curated book suggestions for every stage of life.
In this age of gadgets many have
stopped reading.. and few have never started reading. Few might say..”hey I
read daily…” but what do we really
read??? We read short news, SMS, whatsapp news, tiktok, few reels with wordings
and we instantly made to believe we have read something in that day.. That’s
our brain playing games on us. In reality, in the “Im Laufe der Zeit” we have
actually stopped reading.. atleast most of us. When was the last time you read
a book completely, immersed in its characters- feeling all its emotions? Or what
was the last thought provoking book you read that made you question your
beliefs?
Studies shows that a child introduced
to books at a very early age have amazing imagination and resilience. As a teen
and then a adult I have found my reliable companion in Books. Books hold our
hands and take us to a journey, which we wish never ends. As a 8 year old I
remember dreaming myself Joe, Beth
and Frannie and seeing a newland every day like in “The faraway tree”.
Still I see myself mirroring MR.Pinkwishlte’s sensitivity . as a teen Kalyani from
“Kalvanin kaadhali” by Kalki made me cry. Oh.. that handsome Prince
Vandhiyathevan captured my heart from Ponniyin selvan.
I still
envy my friends who read Harry potter as a book first , unfortunately I saw the
movie first. Movie was amazing but the book was on entirely another level. My
friends introduced to Potter universe in my 20’s which made me understood the
impacts of books on a reader’s mind. On a visual medium like Movies, TV series
we are limited to the director’s thoughts. But a book gives us the freedom to
imagine. As a reader, a human mind is the most fascinating thing. It’s
potential imagine or visualize each situation is remarkable. In my mind Potter’s
world was so different but cannot undo Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliff, Rupert
Grint and my dear Hagrid Robbie Coltrane. In contrast to that Vandhiyathevan
from Ponniyin selvan was so vivid in my mind and his image was not polluted by
any image I saw on films or series. He was my own real imaginative hero.
Some
books make you see the world differently.” Totto chan - Little girl by thewindow” helped me understand how a childhood shapes an adulthood. How an
dedicated and thoughtful educationalist impact a student’s life. J.
Krishnamoorty’s “What are you doing with our life” really made me ask that question
to myself.
Books
are for every one from 6 months to 100 years.. yes you read it right.. Its from
6 months. When you introduce books to your children that’s the biggest gift you can give them. As an
adult it will be your best friend who listens to you with utmost patience. As a
teenager it will be your sanctum from outside nosie. For middle aged person ,
books becomes your mentor and guide. As a senior person you will find your
solace and companionship in books. Whatever stage we may be, there is one thing
I can guarantee. At any age or stage of your life a good book will be a
reliable friend you can turn to.
Is reading
still relevant?
Yes, reading
is relevant more than ever in this digital age.
If you could sit alone with a book and read few pages without any
distraction .. you can call it a meditation. In today’s world even a 1 year old
child is seen addicted to cell phones. It’s not uncommon to see baby’s are made
to eat showing cell phones. There are endless studies showing the impacts of
electronic devices on young and matured brains alike.
Books vs
digital media
There is
tug-off war between books and social media. Social media gives you instant gratification,
where as books requires a reader to be fully present and there is no instant dopamine
hit. But reading as shown to have helped the brain to understand deeper concepts
easily as it is used to it.
Family
reading time benefits
A Family
that has a quality reading time together, bonds better and have healthier relationships
similar to shared passion such as sports, arts and other hobbies.

Disadvantages of reading books:
There are actually few disadvantage which I faced personally
1. You buy one book… and suddenly you have an entire library π... Your wallet cries, your shelves bend, but you still say: “I have nothing to read.”
2. You start judging movies like an elite critic. Everyone’s enjoying the film and you’re whispering, “In the book, this scene was 200% better.”π₯
3. You accidentally fall in love with fictional characters - Yep... this is sooo real.
4. You develop a unique superpower: ignoring your surroundings - Earthquake? Doorbell? Your mom calling 47 times? your kids screaming You hear nothing..
